About Red Oak Counselling

Greg Mitchell

With over 14 years of experience in education and counselling, I bring a deep understanding of both visible and underlying aspects of human behavior. My background as a high school teacher, mentor, youth worker, and counsellor has equipped me with a versatile skill set in person-centred therapy, alongside a variety of other approaches tailored to meet diverse client needs.  I enjoy being a part of community, helping local sports teams and working with a variety of charities.

My Skills

I have completed a Masters of Counselling from the University of Canberra and am a member of Australian Counselling Association (Level 2). I also hold a Bachelor of Education (Secondary Teaching) and bring 12 years of teaching experience to the role of counsellor.

I am committed to ongoing professional development, with skills in Brief Intervention Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My approach is grounded in nonjudgmental empathy, ensuring that I support individuals in a compassionate and effective manner.

Person-Centred Approach

As an accredited counsellor and former high school teacher, I am passionate about fostering empathy and building rapport with my clients. As an avid sports fan, I believe in the power of teamwork and resilience, both on and off the field. I focus on helping individuals develop their strengths and cultivate resilience through self-discovery, empowering them to navigate life's challenges with confidence.

Telehealth Sessions

Through telehealth video appointments, we’ll discuss the issues that lead you to counselling, your goals, and how we can collaborate to help you achieve them.   Here you can access support and guidance from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Research has shown that video sessions can be just as effective, if not more so, than in-person meetings.
